The world is ending. Whether people say they believe that or not, they do. Their bodies do, at least. They know it in their bones, they know it at an atomic level. Anxious atoms, always moving, always craving, banging against one another, creating the fire of life, until slowing to a cold end. Time is running out. Get while you can. Do while you can. Get it all, do it all. You deserve it. Just hustle. Some say if you drop a frog into a pot of boiling water, it will hop right back out and save itself, but if you place a frog in tepid water and then slowly heat it, you will eventually boil the frog without struggle. But what about two frogs? But what about seven billion frogs? How much time would they waste? When would they know? How many could save themselves? How many would be drowned and boiled underfoot? All life is competition. JD
